This Week’s Word: Arduous [ahr-joo-uh's] adjective
Arduous means requiring great exertion or energy. It is a synonym of laborious. It can specifically mean hard to climb, but more broadly mean difficult to endure.
Sample Sentence:
He had never before accomplished something so arduous; exhaustion radiated from every muscle and tendon in his body, but he had done it, he had climbed Mt. Everest.
